I love Lewis. Ferrari’s seat is not a lifetime achievement award.

Keep the legend close. Give the next generation the cockpit.

I love Lewis Hamilton. I love the significance of him wearing Ferrari red. I think he could be an extraordinary ambassador for the team for years.

I also want somebody younger in that seat.

The sport keeps treating those sentences as a demand to pick which version of Lewis I believe in. The legend or the liability. I reject the entire stupid arrangement. Admiration is not a contract to support every additional season of somebody’s career.

I am not waiting for him to become embarrassing

Hamilton won at Barcelona-Catalunya in 2026. His season also includes podiums in China, Canada, Monaco and Britain. [1] So no, this argument does not depend on pretending he cannot drive a racing car anymore. It would be easier to write that version. It would also be bullshit.

My argument is about what I want Ferrari to spend its future on. I want the next driver’s opportunity to matter before the established driver has exhausted every possible justification for continuing.

If the only acceptable moment to move on is the point where a legend becomes impossible to defend, the sport has created a miserable exit condition. We have to watch the decline become undeniable before anybody is allowed to want something else. Why?

He has driven enough to establish exactly who he is. Another season is not required to complete the evidence.

The ambassador and the driver are different decisions

Hamilton in Ferrari’s story makes complete sense to me. His stature, his presence, the affection people have for him: those are real. The cockpit is a separate resource, and there are very few of them.

I want Ferrari developing a future someone still has to make. Give me the hunger, the uncertainty, the possibility of watching a new career become enormous in red. There is risk in that. Good. A racing team is allowed to take a risk on racing rather than forever making the biggest possible statement about the past.

The emotional appeal of the famous name can become its own argument against change. Every departure begins to look disrespectful because the person has given so much. Gratitude quietly turns into a claim on the next opportunity.

Loving him does not mean wanting this indefinitely

I do not need Lewis to become the worst driver on the grid before I decide he is the wrong choice for the future I want Ferrari to build. A younger replacement is not guaranteed to be quicker tomorrow. That is not what makes the opportunity worth wanting.

I want the team to choose the next chapter while it still feels like a choice, instead of waiting until another farewell is forced into a damage-control exercise.

Keep Lewis close. Let him represent Ferrari with all the weight his career gives him. But the seat is not a commemorative object. It is where somebody gets the chance to become the person we spend the next decade arguing about.

I love him. I am ready. Give the next kid the fucking car.
